OUR COLLECTION — LATIN AMERICA — HONDURAS 391. SMALLER BEADED NATIVITY
This Nativity features Mary holding her baby Jesus while standing next to Joseph. The three wise men bring their gifts to the baby. The scene is completed by an angel with beaded wings. The figures have soft crocheted bodies covered with colorful strings of beads. The bodies can be adjusted to help the figures stand without tipping. The faces are dark wood beads. The figures stand approximately 2.5 inches tall.
This Nativity is made by Ene, who lives in a very isolated rural community called Trujillo in eastern Honduras. She works very hard in her needlework—each figure in her Nativity set requires an entire day to make. The income from her needlework directly feeds her family of six.
