OUR COLLECTION — LATIN AMERICA — MEXICO 74. CORN HUSK NATIVITY
This Nativity scene comes from a little town outside Guadalajara. The seller buys these directly from the lovely family who makes them. There are eleven figures total including baby Jesus in a basket. All figures are made of corn husk and have gold ribbon with nice details. Their hair and beards were made of corn silk. Each figure was nicely put together and has corn husk all the way through—not hollow. Some of the figures are carrying items like a jug, a bowl with beans, a cup, a bell, etc. All pieces are handmade. Each standing figure is approximately 7.5 inches tall; baby Jesus is 2 inches tall and the sheep are 3 inches tall.
