OUR COLLECTION — LATIN AMERICA — NICARAGUA 404. NATIVITY WITH 20 ANGELS
This Nativity scene includes the Holy Family, three wise men, and twenty angels (10 male and 10 female). The pieces are carved from cedar wood by the Jimenez Family: the mother, father, and many kids are involved in the process. The family lives in Masaya, a town close to Managua, the capital of Nicaragua.
After this family completes their carving, the pieces are brightly painted by other artisans in Managua. All of the figures are painted in bright floral designs. The Joseph figure stands 12 inches tall.
Some of the angels are very unique: two female angels have their eyes closed, two male angels have a design of turquoise and orange birds nesting in tree branches, one male angel has parrots painted on his torso, and our favorite male angel has an underwater design of jellyfish and fish.
