This Nativity triptych is made from painted capiz shells in the Philippines. Capiz shells are harvested in the South China and Philippine Seas surrounding the Philippines. The shells appear translucent when sun or a candle shines behind them. In this design, the triptych folds in three sections. The people were painted with Caucasian features. The scene measures 8 inches high by12 inches long.
