OUR COLLECTION — AFRICA — ANGOLA 193. GREEN WOOD NATIVITY
This Nativity is made by Flor, a Christian carver who lives in Luanda, Angola. Flor is married and has two children.
The green wood is a naturally green-grey color. Flor also carves in rosewood and ebony, but he said green wood is rarer so it is the most expensive wood that he carves. When we asked Flor the official name of the green wood, he answered, “Green wood is green wood.”
The set includes 10 pieces: the Holy Family, two shepherds, two lambs, and three wise men. All of the men in the set are barefoot. The tallest figures are 9.5 inches tall.
